An opportunity has arisen for a leading insurance group.

Job description:

  • Business Partnering and decision support on Indirect Tax matters
  • Responsible for the Premium Tax filings
  • Responsible for the Group VAT strategy
  • Oversee the delivery of the VAT returns
  • Support the business with regard to indirect taxes
  • Be a collaborative team member and assist others in the tax team as necessary

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Partnering and Decision Support on Indirect Tax Matters
  • Advising/Supporting Heads of Underwriting Department and their teams on any indirect tax related matters
  • Decision support on indirect tax implications of any new acquisition or structural changes, involving external advisors where necessary.

Insurance Premium Tax Returns

  • Monitor and advise the business of the implications of any IPT changes
  • Point of contact for the review the IPT returns for the UK companies
  • Manage any IPT enquiries from tax authorities
  • Review of the Balance Sheet account reconciliations

Value Added Tax Returns

  • Review and monitor the VAT strategy in light of any legislative or case law changes
  • Respond to VAT enquiries from the business
  • Oversight of the VAT compliance work of International Division
  • In depth review the VAT return for the UK VAT group
  • Review of the Balance Sheet account reconciliations
  • Manage correspondence with tax authorities

Federal Excise Tax:

  • Oversee the reporting of Federal Excise Taxes
  • Liaise with Houston Office Tax Department and Lloyds on FET reporting
  • Review account reconciliations

Skills and Experience Specification:

  • Minimum 5 years work experience post university
  • Insurance Industry experience
  • Minimum 3 years' experience of Premium Taxes and/or VAT
